Disney’s Beauty and the Beast coming to Abu Dhabi

The Broadway show is coming to the UAE for the first time, as a part of an international tour celebrating 20 years of the musical.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast coming to Abu Dhabi

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is coming to the Middle East for the first time, as part of an international tour celebrating the Broadway musical’s 20th anniversary celebrations. There will be eight performances at du Forum on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island between October 30 and November 8. The show’s original creative team has reunited for the tour, which will include all the original costumes and set designs used in the much-loved Broadway production. Ticket prices start at Dh150 and go on sale at www.ticketmaster.ae tomorrow at noon. – The National staff

Guardians of the Galaxy star thanks fans

In between saving the universe and conquering the box office, the Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt found time to thank fans for watching the latest Marvel epic, which opens here next week. It was announced yesterday that the comic-book adventure had earned $94million (Dh345m) during its first weekend on release in the US and Canada – the third-best opening of the year and a new record for a film released in August. On Sunday, the 35-year-old Pratt posted a thank-you message to fans on his official Facebook page, saying: “Thank you everyone watching #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy this weekend! We’re all so happy that people are loving it. Stay for the credits, not just the awesome post-credit sequence but to read the hundreds if not thousands of names responsible for bringing it to the screen. #grateful.” – Reuters

Nine-year-old Filipino wins TV talent show

Nine-year-old Lyca Gairanod beat more than 10,000 youngsters who auditioned for the Philippine TV talent show The Voice Kids to be crowned the winner. Coached by the singer and actress Sarah Geronimo, Gairanod triumphed in a two-night final during which the young finalists competed head-to-head and sang with a celebrity, the Philippine Star reported. Geronimo said afterGairanod’s performance: “That’s my superstar.” Gairanod’s prize included 1 million pesos (Dh84,000) in cash, a recording contract, a house and a trust fund worth 1m pesos. – The National staff
