The list of celebrities attending the three-day PopCon extravaganza taking place at Dubai Outlet Mall from October 27 to 29, has been extended.
New additions to the line-up already announced include Brianna Hildebrand, best known for her breakthrough role as Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the FOX global blockbuster Deadpool. She'll be joined by Hollywood stuntman and six-time world champion Randy Couture and the duo will be available for meet-and-greet sessions with fans.
For budding comic artists, Stephen Wacker, Marvel's vice president of Animation, Development & Current Series, will be scouting for new talent. As a former senior editor for Marvel Comics, Wacker has supervised and a vast array of award-winning titles including Amazing Spider Man and Daredevil. Aspiring artists are encouraged to take their portfolio to PopCon for a free review from Wacker.
A highlight of the weekend on October 29 will be PopCon’s CAGE (Cosplay Authority Global Challenge) competition which will see the best dressed fan scoop Dh25,000 in cash and prizes.
Organisers have confirmed that the judges will be Guinness World Record holder Julian Checkley and cosplayers Yugana Senshi Uon and Sumi Cosplay. Previously announced names who will participate in the event include the British pop group All Saints, the American electronic band Major Lazer and rock band DNCE, also from the United States.
They will all take part in a Halloween-themed concert called Fiesta De Los Muertos at the Autism Rocks Arena on October 28. Entrance is free to the pop culture and comic event, which is to be hosted by television presenter Giuliana Rancic.
