Many of the UAE's citizens and residents have been encouraged to stay indoors to stem the spread of Covid-19, with malls, restaurants and public spaces closed to the public.

Among those practising social distancing or self-isolation are some of the country's biggest names, from best-selling singers to social media stars.

Below, discover how some of them have been filling their newfound time at home.

Huda Kattan

The mogul revealed last week that she would be posting less beauty content on her social media channels, and instead sharing "positive content related to happiness and togetherness".

"I’ve been feeling so much anxiety and knowing that we can unite to help each other shows how beautiful we can be together," Kattan, founder of Huda Beauty, wrote on Instagram.

The entrepreneur, 36, also revealed that she and the Huda Beauty team had been working from home, following news that someone in their office building had been diagnosed with Covid-19.

“We’re been cooking, decluttering, and we’ve been watching a lot of Friends because it keeps us happy," she revealed in a video describing how her family had been spending time in self-quarantine.

Kattan has also uploaded a fun video with her husband, Chris, and daughter, Nour, in which they test out their make-up skills.

On Tuesday, Kattan also launched a competition in a bid to support freelance make-up artists around the world, whose work has been affected by lockdown measures.

"I want to kick-start the way that we’re giving back by shining a spotlight on some amazing make-up artists and giving cash to some MUAs who may be struggling right now, Kattan revealed in a video, adding that Huda Beauty would be donating $1,000 (Dh3,672) to 100 make-up artists.

To enter, social media commenters need to take a freelance make-up artist wand share why they deserve the prize. Entries closed at midnight on Wednesday, March 25.
