Stand-up comedian Gad Elmaleh, who was once voted the funniest person in France, will perform at Dubai Opera in December.

The 47-year-old, who in 2017 sold out the Olympia theatre in Paris for seven consecutive weeks and who has appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, will combine elements of his Netflix special, American Dream, with new material for the performance on December 11.

The multi-lingual comedian will perform this show, which is part of his worldwide Dream Tour, in English. "[This] allows me to take my story and my comedy on a worldwide journey, which has been my dream since I was a kid,” he says.

Elmaleh, who released his second Netflix comedy special, Gad Gone Wild, in January last year has been described as the "Seinfeld of France" and his rare ability to find humour in the seemingly mundane challenges of everyday life certainly warrants comparison with the great American comedian.

American audiences have taken to Elmaleh, who in 2015 performed more than 50 nights at Joe’s Pub in New York, before setting off on a tour across the country, which culminated in a sold-out show at New York’s Carnegie Hall in February 2017.

Tickets for Elmaleh’s Dubai Opera show, which start at Dh295, go on sale at on Wednesday, July 18. For more information, visit dubaiopera.com
