If you're having trouble finding a good book to read and happen to be in Dubai during the next week, there's a solution at hand.
The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale begins on Thursday with books from all genres available at a discount of between 50 per cent and 80 per cent.
But this isn't a simple trip to your nearest Borders - there's a staggering three million books on sale - making the event the world's biggest.
The event is being held in partnership with The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), the National Media Council (NMC) and Dubai Production City, the sale is open 24 hours a day for 11 consecutive days at the Sound Stage Venue in Dubai Studio City. Doors open on Thursday at 9am.
“The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale aims to promote a culture of reading through affordable brand-new books and there is a clear demand for such books in the region," said Mohamed Al Aidaroos, managing partner of Ink Readable Books, the organiser of the sale.
A wide variety of genres will be on sale, including fiction, art, design, cookery, business and self-help, plus a wide range of children's books.
Mr Al Aidaroos said that if all of the books on sale in Dubai during the coming 11 days were stacked on top of each other (taking the average book thickness), it would reach a height 48 times taller than the Burj Khalifa.
The books come from the remainder market, which consists of stock that has been overprinted and unsold by publishers.
Big Bad Wolf Books was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2009 and has held events throughout Asian cities.
