“The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale aims to promote a culture of reading through affordable brand-new books and there is a clear demand for such books in the region," said Mohamed Al Aidaroos, managing partner of Ink Readable Books, the organiser of the sale.

A wide variety of genres will be on sale, including fiction, art, design, cookery, business and self-help, plus a wide range of children's books.

Mr Al Aidaroos said that if all of the books on sale in Dubai during the coming 11 days were stacked on top of each other (taking the average book thickness), it would reach a height 48 times taller than the Burj Khalifa.

The books come from the remainder market, which consists of stock that has been overprinted and unsold by publishers.

Big Bad Wolf Books was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2009 and has held events throughout Asian cities.
