Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who presents the television game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, has asked wannabe contestants to be cautious about scams running in the name of the ninth season of the popular reality game show.
The 72-year-old actor took to his blog to share the news.
"And yes on another front ... KBC! I get messages that seek registrations for KBC season 9 and so on ... this is a scam...a fake...an effort to fool innocent people...caution all... Sony has not given out any such direction," he posted.
Bachchan has hosted KBC since it was launched in 2000, except for the third season, which was presented by Shah Rukh Khan. KBC, which is based on Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, loosely follows the international game show format, but with celebrity guest appearances and Bollywood-style entertainment. Episodeone of season eight, for example, saw the Shillong Chamber Choir perform a medley of Hindi film songs, while Kapil Sharma, the host of the talk show Comedy Nights with Kapil, was the season's first guest.
