Barun Sobti to perform in Dubai

The Indian television actor Barun Sobti is coming to Dubai on Saturday. He will make a special appearance in the stage play Do Fool Chaar Mali, to be performed at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium. Sobti will make his Bollywood debut in the forthcoming feature film Main Aur Mr Right, directed by Adeeb Rais. For tickets to the play, contact 055 494 5439. – The National staff

Joey McIntyre tweets that he’s OK after Boston blasts

The New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre has tweeted that he’s OK after two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon minutes after he completed the 26.2-mile run. McIntyre, 40, said that “there was an explosion by the finish line about 5 minutes after I finished”. He added: “I’m OK but I’m sure there are many hurt.” – AP

Timberlake chart-topper for third week

Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience continued its reign at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart for the third consecutive week. The country music group The Band Perry entered the chart at No 2 with their second album Pioneer. They came in ahead of the rapper Tyler, The Creator’s latest record Wolf. New Kids on the Block picked up their sixth top 10 album with their latest record 10. On the digital songs chart, Bruno Mars was on top with his latest ballad, When I Was Your Man. Pink’s Just Give Me a Reason came in second, followed by Rihanna’s Stay. – Reuters

Sanjay Dutt wants time before prison term

The Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has appealed to India’s Supreme Court to give him some more time before he begins a prison sentence for a 1993 weapons conviction linked to a deadly terror attack. Dutt filed his appeal on Monday. “Please defer my surrender by 180 days because I have work commitments,” read the petition. Last month, the court sentenced Dutt to five years in prison for illegal possession of weapons supplied by mafia bosses linked to a terror attack in Mumbai that killed 257 people. – AP

Weinstein and Chapman welcome baby

Harvey Weinstein and his wife, the fashion designer Georgina Chapman, have added a baby boy to their family. A spokeswoman for the 61-year-old co-chairman of the Weinstein Company said that the 37-year-old Chapman gave birth to a son on Thursday in New York. The couple already have a 2-year-old daughter. The producer also has three daughters from his previous marriage to Eve Chilton. Chapman and Weinstein married in 2007. – AP

Psy’s Gentleman climbs YouTube heights

Psy’s new video Gentleman got more than 81 million views on YouTube on Tuesday, chasing the success of Gangnam Style after smashing the previous record for first-day views for songs. The video of Gentleman racked up more than 20 million hits in the first 24 hours after its release on Saturday. It easily outstripped the eight million views Justin Bieber’s Boyfriend got in its first 24 hours. Psy tweeted on Monday: “51 million views in 40 hours!! My God!!” The song also climbed charts around the world, hitting eighth place in Britain and seventh in Australia, according to the Apple’s iTunes ranking, and holding the top spot in most of Scandinavia. – Reuters
