The veteran American television reporter Barbara Walters has been hospitalised after falling and hitting her head, said her employer ABC News. “She fell on a stair [on Saturday] evening while visiting the British ambassador’s residence and the fall left her with a cut on her forehead,” the ABC News senior vice president, Jeffrey Schneider, said. “Out of an abundance of caution, she went to the hospital to have her cut tended to, have a full examination and remains there for observation.” He added: “Barbara is alert – and telling everyone what to do – which we all take as a very positive sign.” The 83-year-old reporter currently co-hosts the daytime talk show The View. – AFP

DiCaprio to take ‘long, long break’

Leonardo DiCaprio says he’s taking a break from acting. He told the German daily Bild, “I am a bit drained. I’m now going to take a long, long break. I’ve done three films in two years and I’m just worn out.” After Django Unchained, DiCaprio is set to do promotions for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby (due out in May) and Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street (later this year). He says he plans to use the break time to promote environmental awareness. “I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment.” – AFP
