More than a decade in the making, The Avalanches have announced a long-awaited second album.

The lauded Aussie electro act are beloved by fans for landmark debut Since I Left You and now, after grappling with the weight of expectation, remaining members on Thursday, June 2, revealed follow-up Wildflower. Its understood work on a follow-up began in 2005.

Ahead of the LP's July 8 release, the band premiered debut single Frankie Sinatra on Australian radio station Triple J, a sonically irreverent treat cramming guest turns from Danny Brown and MF Doom, and even a sample from The Sound of Music's My Favourite Things, into its heady, four-minute lilting calypso groove.

Earlier this month The Avalanches teased fans by releasing cryptic images of a butterfly on social media, before announcing their first shows in 15 years.

The 21-track Wildflower will feature guests including Camp Lo, Warren Ellis, Biz Markie, Jennifer Herrema, Toro y Moi, Father John Misty and Jonathan Donahue.

Core members Tony Di Blasi and Robbie Chater have said a third album will follow in the next three years – but previous form suggests fans would be wise not to bank on it.
