A musical and theatrical performance that reinterprets pearling stories from the UAE’s history will take place at Warehouse 421 tonight. In collaboration with Rooftop Rhythms, the show will aim to take visitors on the journey of an Emirati pearling family through departure, travel and returning home all set to a backdrop of the country before the discovery of oil. Offering a first person perspective, the musical will be performed in both English and Arabic, providing a dynamic insight into the UAE’s heritage through word, music and movement.

The show is in keeping with the theme of the exhibition Departure, which features sculptures of rusted iron and oxidized bronze boats by Spanish sculptor Xavier Mascaró.
