The fourth edition of the Sikka Art Fair kicks off in Dubai this weekend with more than 50 artists displaying commissioned work from 25 nations.

Organised by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), it is the first event to be held under the new umbrella initiative, Art Season, and is housed in the city’s Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.

Emiratis make up the majority of the talent, including artists in residence Maitha Demithan, Maryam Al Qassimi and Sara Al Haddad, the painters Khawla Darwish and Musab Al Rais, the multidisciplinary creative Khalid Mezaina and the Mobius Design Studio.

Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum, the director of FN Designs in Alserkal Avenue, and the Japanese architect and the programme director Kayoko Iemura, are the fair’s curators, assisted by Yusaka Imamura, the official art adviser.
