Today is the last day to catch There Are Too Many Walls But Not Enough Bridges at AB Gallery in Lucerne, Switzerland. Since it opened in July, over 1000 people have paid a visit to the exhibition that features Mina Nasr from Egypt, who was commissioned to create an 11-metre painting especially for the show; Hassan Meer from Oman; Talal Al Zeid from Saudi Arabia; and Iran's Shahriar Ahmadi, Samira Hodaei, Hamed Rashtian, Nastaran Safari and Azadeh Razaghdoos. Emiratis Layla Juma and Mohamed Al Mazrouei were also part of the roster that totaled 25 artists.
It is credit to the gallery owners Heidi and Franz Leupi as well as the Oryx Foundation director Peter Stohler that such a wide ranging exhibition was shown to European audiences. With such success in visitor numbers and an ongoing commitment to artist from the region, the foundation shows great promise as an outlet for Middle Eastern artists.
