Feature Artparis-AbuDhabi is back at the Emirates Palace and celebrating emerging artists. Helena Frith Powell previews the most exciting exhibitors from the region.
Part of a bid to turn the capital into the region's cultural hub, artparis-AbuDhabi is marking its second year by featuring up-and-coming artists. Under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the exhibitions will be held Tuesday to Friday at the Emirates Palace hotel. In total, 22 countries will be represented with 58 modern and contemporary art galleries. Organisers expect some 15,000 visitors. The original artparis fair began in the French capital in 1999 and is one of Europe's largest art fairs. It found its way to Abu Dhabi after its founder, Caroline Clough Lacoste, visited the emirate and formed a partnership with the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage. A year later, M has picked four of the most exciting talents in this year's selection of emerging artists.
