For 10 hours a day, he has been working on the painting since Wednesday and last night, Hazem Harb completed this geometric abstract image from his Al Baseera series. It not only draws a close to the Live Artist Window that has been running at The Beach leisure destination on JBR since the beginning of the month, but it also rounds off his work for his forthcoming solo show in Jeddah's Athr Gallery next month.

It was a challenge for the artist to work in the public but one that he relished, saying that “art deserves to come out of the walls of galleries and studios” and that interacting with the public especially children is something he really enjoys.

Harb is a Palestinian artist from Gaza who divides his time between Dubai and Rome, where he has lived and studied for many years.

His work deals with a number of core themes including war, loss, trauma, human vulnerability and global instability. He is also currently exploring conceptual and abstract art. Harb has been exhibited internationally in group and solo exhibitions in the UK, USA, Italy, Palestine, the UAE and Jordan and a series of his photographs has just been purchased by the British Museum in London.
