Yesterday I went down to Zayed University to watch the students unveil their wall mural, which they have been working on for the last month with eL Seed.

Painted on the side of the gym and bringing a burst of colour to an otherwise largely monotone building, the vibrant piece of calligraffiti is visible from quite a distance.

I’m a huge fan of eL Seed’s work – I love the colours he chooses and his distinctive style. Also, the ease with which he draws the letters is really incredible to see first hand.

My favourite part of this work is the meaning of the script:

As big as you dream the Earth expands

It is so inspirational and the perfect thing to be written on the walls of a university.

Despite the heat and the sticky weather, the girls were very excited and proud of their achievements.

Hend Mohammed, a third year student of Multimedia Design, summed it up for me:

“At first we weren’t that excited because we thought it would be far too hot and we thought he would be really strict with us. But actually we had so much fun. eL Seed taught us so much and to top it off, he trusted us to paint by ourselves even when he wasn’t there.

“It makes me so proud so say that I was able to work with him and also, it will stay for so long so I am happy to be able to leave something behind and also to be able to look at the wall in years to come and say that I was part of that.”
