I was pretty impressed by the line up of Design Days Dubai when they revealed it last week. With nearly half of the design galleries coming for the fair, now in its fourth edition, being from the Middle East – there is a real chance to palpably feel the pulse of design in the region – and it is fresh, contemporary and very artistic.

I was particularly pleased to see the biggest UAE presence on the roster this year with the inaugural collection of Aljoud Lootah Design Studio, 1971 a brand new design space in Sharjah and Arty by AMN – another studio from Ajman.

On the international scale, there are also well-established names such as David Gill from London, Carpenter’s Workshop from London and Paris, Chamber from New York.

“We have a different identity from other fairs because we showcase a majority of contemporary design,” says Cyril Zammit, the fair director. “This year, we have a really different line up and we are very blessed to have that.”

Interestingly, there will be a presence from China, which Zammit describes as one of his “biggest excitements” because before China was a master copier it was simply a master.

With a total of 44 exhibitors from 20 countries and over 700 items on display, there is going to be something for everyone at this fair and if you haven’t been yet, I recommend you pay a visit.

* Design Days Dubai will take place from March 16-20 at The Venue, Downtown Dubai – a temporary set up at the base of the Burj Khalifa.
