Submissions are now open for this year’s Arab Film Studio documentary programme. Arab Film Studio, which is overseen by production company Image Nation Abu Dhabi, currently runs three programmes in documentaries, narrative and scriptwriting, and the docs programme is returning for its third consecutive year. The course involves workshops, mentoring and assignments. All the finalists in the docs programme will have the opportunity to make a 10-minute documentary which will be screened locally and internationally, while the overall winner will also win an internship at Image Nation. Previous winners include Amna Al Nowais, whose film Omnia won prizes at both the Dubai and San Francisco Shorts festivals, and Tanya Daud, who now works full time at Image Nation and has worked on projects included the Oscar longlisted He Named Me Malala. New for this year, AFS will also be running a roadshow visiting various locations around the UAE to spread the word about the programme. The roadshow will call at The Space at twofour54 Abu Dhabi on March 13, Ras Al Khaimah Cultural Centre on March 14, Sharjah Art Foundation on March 20, and Dubai’s Jam Jar on March 21.

Applicants must be UAE nationals or residents, and should have some experience of film making, including knowledge of at least one editing tool. For more details visit www.arabfilmstudio.ae
