The Anasy Documentary Awards film festival, run in partnership with Unicef, features an eclectic mosaic of work from across the globe. Garbage Dreams follows three boys born in to the "trash trade" in Cairo, Full Signal looks at how mobile phone antenna are affecting lives in 10 countries, and Absence of Mr and Mrs B charts the life of an infertile couple in Iran. More than 250 films from 21 countries participated in the competition, with 120 nominated for screenings by the jury. All pieces in the one minute category, which will be screened between the main features, were made in the UAE. Until May 9, the films are being shown at Cine Royal in Khalidiyah Mall (02 635 9512), Al Raha (02 556 2008) in Abu Dhabi and DUCTAC (04 341 4777) in Dubai.
