Bachchan did Great Gatsby gig for free
Amitabh Bachchan has revealed that he did not charge a fee for his appearance in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby. "The role is small, hardly a minute. When he called, I readily agreed. I did it as a gesture," said the 69-year-old, who plays an associate of Gatsby. The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Toby Maguire and Carey Mulligan, is scheduled to be released next summer. "My experience with them was wonderful. Their whole system of working is so organised. It was a great pleasure." – IANS
Shirish Kunder gears for the release of Joker
The director Shirish Kunder says he's all set for the release of his fantasy adventure film Joker, which stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. "It has all the ingredients of an entertainer, just like those action-packed films that kids all over the world love, such as Spider-Man and Transformers," he said. Kunder also confirmed that he has begun shooting his next film, the action-comedy Kick, starring Salman Khan. Joker will be released in India on Friday. – IANS
Desae talks about Best Exotic and her new film
The Bollywood star Tena Desae, who acted in the recent British movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, says the two film industries can't be compared. "It's impossible to do so. Best Exotic was different because their method of performing is very different from ours," said the 25-year-old actress. "I'm more familiar with the tone here in India." Desae recently returned from Fiji, where she filmed her new thriller Table No 21, directed by Aditya Datt. – IANS
Boman Irani would like to direct a movie
Boman Irani, the star of the new film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, says he's keen to try his hand at filmmaking. "I'd like to direct a movie. I don't know when, but I'd like it to be about the human spirit. People interest me a lot," said Irani, 48. "Standing behind the camera could teach me a lot about standing in front of it." Shirin Farhad, which also stars Farah Khan, is a romcom about two fortysomethings who fall in love with each other at first sight. – IANS
Rosario Dawson dons Indian designer outfit
The Hollywood star Rosario Dawson wore a creation by the young Indian designer Amit G T in a shoot for next month's issue of the US magazine Latina. "The golden dress is from the Safari line of my latest collection. It was inspired by African flora and fauna," the designer said in a statement. "The look is quite dramatic, with a very unusual silhouette." Amit G T is a favourite among Bollywood stars such as Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor. – IANS
