A food-lover’s delight
Abu Dhabi is a food-lover’s paradise, home to a wide range of interesting restaurants and appetising eateries.
And, as befits a city in a near-perpetual state of development, the capital’s food scene has recently been added to by a clutch of new openings on Al Maryah Island and nearby Reem Island, in addition to assorted launches in more established parts of the city.
As The National’s Arts&Life section highlighted yesterday, these restaurants – from Al Maz by Momo at The Galleria and Rhodes 44 at St Regis Abu Dhabi, to Urban Bites in Khalidiya and Wing Zone at the Boutik Mall – offer an array of gastronomic delights in an equally diverse selection of surroundings. Indeed, it is perfectly possible to chart a rough course around the gastronomic globe in the capital, from the flavours of Asia to the molecular gastronomy of the West and, of course, the aromas of Arabia.
There are still plenty of cheaper options too. Visits to Abu Dhabi’s smaller restaurants remind us that even though their decor may be basic, their food is often delightful.
The only drawback to all this culinary excellence is the pressure on our waistline: that’s a battle that doesn’t look as if it will be won any time soon.
