Saudi Arabia will host the G20 summit in 2020, according to the closing statement at this year's meeting in Hamburg.

The annual gathering of leaders from the world's 19 top industrialised and emerging economies and the European Union will be held in Argentina next year and in Japan in 2019.

"We thank Germany for hosting a successful Hamburg Summit and its contribution to

the G20 process, and look forward to meeting again in Argentina in 2018, in Japan in

2019 and in Saudi Arabia in 2020," the leaders said in their declaration issued at the end of the two-day summit on Saturday.

The host nation assumes the presidency of the G20 in the December preceding the year in which it will host the meeting.
