As Wayne Johnson, resident professional at the course, commented: "When the forward tees are being used on perhaps two of the four days, the hole will be reachable for almost all of the competing 60 players.</p>
<p>"That gives it huge risk/reward potential and you may see some of the players aiming for the shallow bunkers behind the green which give them a chance to get up and down for birdie."
The alternative approach, probably when the back tees are in use, is to lay up with a three wood into the hollow short of the fairway bunkers to leave a comfortable wedge into a large inviting green which offers several options for pin positions.</p>
<p>"It's much more straightforward when the pin is at the front," Johnson advised. "The guys will be more inclined to go for the greenside bunkers when that is the case."</p>
