DUBAI // Toyota has issued a product recall for 885,000 vehicles, including a number in the Middle East.
The recall involves the Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid and the Venza models made in 2012 and 2013.
The recall was due to a water leak from the air conditioning unit. The company has reportedly said that water could leak into the airbag control module, causing the airbag to either become disabled, or to inadvertently deploy.
There are 847,000 cars that will be recalled in North America, while the remaining 8,000 are spread out over Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
A Toyota spokesman in the UAE was not immediately available for comment on how many cars would be affected here.
BBC News reported that two minor injuries had occurred as a result of the fault, but there had been no reports of vehicles crashing.
