A man burned to death after the truck he was driving crashed into another in Ras Al Khaimah and burst into flames.

The man - of Asian origin - was driving the truck on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road when he crashed into another truck parked near Sheikh Khalifa Hospital on Sunday.

Col Ahmed Al Naqbi, director of the Traffic and Patrols Department for RAK Police, said they were alerted to the accident at almost 11.30pm and dispatched firefighters along with an ambulance.

In a video obtained by The National, fire fighters are seen tackling the blaze.

The driver was found dead after the fire was extinguished. His body was taken to hospital to be passed on to this family, Col Al Naqbi said.

The driver of the other truck, which was parked in the hard shoulder before the crash, sustained moderate injuries and was also taken to hospital.

Col Al Naqbi appealed to all motorists to remain alert while driving, particularly at night.
