Abu Dhabi Police say they are searching for the attacker who stabbed a woman to death on Monday in the ladies toilets at the Boutik Mall on Reem Island.

Col Rashid Bourscheid, director of CID at Abu Dhabi Police, said the victim was a 37-year-old kindergarten teacher from the United States. She was taken to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City but died as a result of her injuries.

Col Bourscheid said the victim was stabbed with a sharp object following an argument in the ladies toilets on Monday afternoon. He said police are still trying to determine the reasons for the attack and the identity of the suspect, who fled the scene.

According to witnesses, the suspect was wearing an abaya and black gloves and the person’s face was covered by a niqab.

Col Bourscheid said the victim’s 11-year-old twins are in the care of community police awaiting their father’s arrival from overseas. The father is the victim’s ex-husband.
