School bus driver dies in crash

A school bus driver has been killed after his vehicle hit a light.

ABU DHABI // A school bus driver was killed in a crash yesterday when his vehicle hit a light post and overturned.

Six Emirati students and the bus attendant were also injured in the crash, which occurred near Al Thameed as the students returned to Sharjah from a private school in Ajman.

The driver, from Pakistan, sustained fatal injuries. The students, aged between 15 and 17, and the attendant, who holds a Comorros Islands passport, were taken to hospital and treated for minor to moderate injuries, according to Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National. They were also given X-rays to rule out bone fractures or internal bleeding.
