ABU DHABI // The Prophet’s birthday will be celebrated on Saturday and will be a paid holiday.

The Minister of Labour, Saqr Ghobash, said January 3 will be a paid holiday for all those in the private sector in celebration of the Prophet’s birthday – Mowled Al Nabawi. It had been previously announced that Thursday is to be a paid holiday in celebration of New Year’s day.

The public sector has been given the same holidays, according to Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and chairman of the Federal Authority for Human Resources, reported the state news agency, Wam.

Mr Al Hammadi and Mr Ghobash have sent their warm regards to President Sheikh Khalifa, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and members of the Supreme Council and rulers of the seven emirates on the occasion.

They have also passed good wishes to the Government and the people of the UAE on this occasion.
