UAE National Day: More firework displays to ensure spectacular celebrations

Abu Dhabi's National Day fireworks programme has been expanded to 13 shows at seven sites across the emirate: Abu Dhabi Corniche, Yas Island, Khor Al Maqta, Al Ain, Madinat Zayed, Delma Island and Sila.

Abu Dhabi's National Day fireworks programme has been expanded to 13 shows at seven sites across the emirate: Abu Dhabi Corniche, Yas Island, Khor Al Maqta, Al Ain, Madinat Zayed, Delma Island and Sila.

About 63,410 shots in total will be fired in specially-designed shows by Spanish fireworks specialist Pirotecnia Igual.

Abu Dhabi Corniche

A 12-minute fireworks show on December 1st and 2nd at 9pm.The Corniche will also come alive with a mammoth activity plan of entertainment and games. The Emirates Heritage Club at the Corniche Breakwater Heritage Village will open from 9am until 10pm on December 2nd. The club will also have a traditional rowing boat available to take up to 10 people at a time on a trip along the Corniche.

The trips will be free and run every half hour from 4:30pm until 7pm.

There will also be a UAE military parade involving air, naval and land forces at Abu Dhabi Corniche from 15:00 to 17:00 on December 1.

Yas Island

Thousands of cars decorated in the colours of the UAE national flag will gather on December 2 to try to bid for a "most decorated cars" Guinness World Record. Cars must arrive no later than 2:30pm and the parade will start at du Forum and cover more than 3.5 kilometres.

A three-minute firework show will close the Yas Island National Day celebrations at 8pm.

A free concert with an Arab singing star will be held at 9pm in du Forum, after the fireworks. Details of the singer will be announced shortly.

Khor Al Maqta

Firework shows on December 1st and 2nd at Khor Al Maqta - in front of the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr hotel at 8:30pm. The show will be visible to people dining out at the hotels and the souq.

Al Ain

In Abu Dhabi's heritage heartland, 10 minute firework shows will run at 8:30pm on December 1st and 2nd at Hili Fun City, with entry to the park being free.

Also planned for the weekend is the Al Ain Aerobatic Show which takes off at Al Ain International Airport from November 30 to December 2.

Al Gharbia

Seven-minute firework shows will run at 8:30pm on December 1st and 2nd in Madinat Zayed and on Delma Island, and three-minute shows will run at 8:30 pm in Sila on December 1st and 2nd.
