RAS AL KHAIMAH // A man and woman have been arrested after being found in possession of US$20 million in counterfeit bills.

Col Salem Al Zaabi, chief of Al Mamoura police station, said police received a tip-off from a member of the public who saw the suspects, in a cafe, with a large amount of one-dollar bills.

A team of officers who arrested the woman, 21, and young man, 19, found US$10m in counterfeit notes in their possession.

During interrogation the duo said they had been working with another man, the woman’s father, who had since left the country.

The suspects’ home in Ajman was searched and another US$10m in fake bills was retrieved.

Col Al Zaabi thanked Ajman Police for their cooperation.
