FNC to discuss environment bill amendments in final session

ABU DHABI // The Federal National Council will discuss Quran memorisation centres as well as amendments to an environment bill that will protect aquatic resources when it meets for its final session on Tuesday.

The bill concerns the exploitation, protection and sustainability of living aquatic resources and overfishing that can result in depletion of stocks.

The council will also discuss amendments to a federal law on the restructuring of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Cabinet responses on the Personal Affairs Law recommendations and the Tobacco Law that were discussed in May will also be presented at the session.

Three federal decrees will also be discussed. The first, Federal Decree No 64 of 2014, is in regard to the ratification of an agreement between the Government and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital gains.

Federal Decree No 65 of 2015 ratifies an agreement between the Government and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam concerning air services between the countries.

Federal Decree No 66 of 2015 ratifies an agreement between the Government and Mongolia for air services and Decree No 67 of 2015 is in regard to ratification of an air services agreement between the UAE and the Republic of Latvia.

The council will also be briefed on committee reports of the legislative term.

The session will mark the end of the term and the final session for the current members.

The next term will begin in November, after elections are held in October.
