A fire broke out at a petrochemical factory in the industrial area of Umm Al Quwain on Saturday night.
Civil Defence teams from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah were called in to help firefighters in the emirate control the blaze.

“UAQ Civil Defence department received a report at 9:00pm on Saturday about the fire and rescue teams were dispatched immediately from Al Madina, Al Aqran and Al Raaefa centres,” said Maj Gen Jassim Al Mazrouqi, director general of UAQ Civil Defence.

He said firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze at the petrochemical factory in Umm Al Thaub before it reached diesel tanks being stored there.
No injuries were reported.
