Police have arrested the mastermind behind a gang of Arab nationals that specialised in stealing from the safes of supermarkets and travel agencies across the country.
The other nine members were arrested earlier in a joint operation between the police departments of Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
Col Abdullah Ali Mankhas, head of criminal investigation at the Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that after the initial arrest, the nine members told police that the gang leader was still at large.
The leader, identified as H A A, 35, was also an expert safecracker, according to the gang.
Following intensive investigation and evidence gathering, the police ambushed and arrested the suspect in Ajman. He confessed to robbing supermarkets and travel agencies with the rest of his gang.
All the suspects entered the UAE illegally after they were previously charged and deported for theft and begging.
