DUBAI // A man tricked his way into a woman’s home by pretending he needed to check the electricity, then molested her, a court heard yesterday.
The woman, 21, was home alone on the morning of September 22 when she heard the door bell ring.
“I opened up and when I asked his identity he claimed to be working with the building’s maintenance team saying he had been sent to check the electricity connections,” recalled the woman.
He entered the house and turned off all the lights, then locked the door and started talking to her about sex.
“He started telling me how much he liked my body and that he wanted to see me topless and to have sex with me,” said the woman.
She screamed and told him to leave, but he refused, even when she said her brother was on his way home.
“He refused to leave and started touching my shoulders, kissing my hand and attempting to kiss me on the lips,” said the woman.
She ran to the balcony and threatened to scream for help if the man did not leave.
“He left and when my brother arrived home I told him what happened. He and my mother decided to call police but I stopped them because I didn’t know the man’s identity,” she said.
The next day the man returned and rang the bell once more. “When I looked through the peephole and saw it was him I told my mother and we called police.”
The man remained on her doorstep until police arrived and arrested him.
At the Criminal Court HN, 36, from Egypt, denied a charge of molestation and of entering a house without approval.
The case was adjourned to November 25.
