Man found with indecent photos of girl, 13, tells UAE court he met her on adult website

‎A man found to have indecent photos of a 13-year-old girl argued in court that the website he met her on was for over 18s only and that she told him she was 20.

ABU DHABI // A man jailed for having indecent photos of a 13-year-old girl argued at the Abu Dhabi Appeals Court on Thursday that the website he met her on was for over 18s only and that she told him she was 20.

Emirati H M, who had already served two months of a one-year jail term for sexual harassment, said: “She told me she was 20 and the website I met her on only allows 18 plus.” Chief justice Dr Khairi Al Kabbash, head of the Appeals Court, asked H M if he had proof that the website was for adults “because if what you are saying is true then it will be a completely different case”.

“He was accused of forceful harassment because she is under 13 but if the website, like he says, only allows 18 plus then it’s different,” the chief justice said to his defence lawyer.

“So do some research and bring me what proves that was the case, and whether the website requires proof of age or not.”

Dr Al Kabbash then turned to H M and told him that computers and technology should not be used for such pursuits.

The case was adjourned.
