Dubai cleaner sent to prison for kissing girl, 7

Cleaner who kissed seven-year-old girl on the cheek is sentenced to six months in prison.

DUBAI // A school cleaner who kissed a seven-year-old girl on the cheek was jailed for six months yesterday.

Bangladeshi M S, 22, claimed he kissed the British child because she reminded him of his sister.

The girl was in her school’s playground when the cleaner lifted her up and kissed her on the cheek. He then pointed to his lips in an effort to get the girl to kiss him, prosecutors told the Criminal Court.

She told her mother, who informed the school.

“When the section head questioned the cleaner he denied it, but later the same day he confessed, saying he only stood cheek-to-cheek next to her because she reminded him of his little sister,” said P J, 31, a Nepali teacher assistant.

The incident happened on March 4 this year.

The court found him guilty of sexual assault.
