Carfare Dubai will play Dry Dock World Dubai in the Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament tonight but the players and fans at the Group D clash will no doubt still be talking about the innings of Mohammad Wasim. The Jashanmal National Company right-hand batsman smashed an amazing 156 from just 47 balls in an astonishing display of clean hitting as his side advanced to the knock-out phase, along with Afridi CC, in the 20-over tournament being played at Zabeel Park Cricket Grounds in Dubai.
Wasim hit 15 sixes and as many fours to post the fastest century in the tournament and help Jashanmal to a mammoth total of 286 for six against UPS. However Wasim fell just one short of the tournament record which was set by Dry Dock World Dubai's Mohammad Tariq last week. Needing victory to reach the next stage, Jashanmal won in style, trouncing UPS by 112 runs. In the last Group C match, Uniforge Bhatkal CC beat AMI by four wickets and will join Pacers Ramadi in the next round. CTK Masood was named man-of-the-match after claiming three wickets in his four-over spell at the cost of just eight runs.
In the 23rd Sharjah Ramadan Tournament, Nadeem returned a brilliant three-wicket haul to guide William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana to a narrow two-wicket victory over Interface to move into the semi-finals. Batting first, Interface scored 174 for nine, with Jagrit Anand top-scoring with a breezy 65 off 52 balls which included five fours and three sixes. Puneet Mehra (26 off 28 balls), Nalin (24 off 14) and Tushar (22 off 16) also made useful contributions.
In reply, the Abu Dhabi team held their nerve to overhaul the Interface total with three balls to spare thanks to 39 off 28 balls from Saqib Shah. * Agencies
