Shabab get direction

DUBAI // Sami Ahmed Dhaien al Qamzi has set his sights on restoring stability at Al Shabab after being named chairman of an interim committee which will run the crisis club under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. Champions Shabab have been facing financial problems, with some staff unpaid for two months and, with the situation worsening, Dr Ahmed Saeed bin Hazeem resigned as chairman last week. They have struggled in the league too and sit third-bottom with just ten points.

Al Qamzi said: "Our first task is to help create stability at the club and ensure that the teams are not affected by this situation. "We will study the situation at the club and work hard to find solutions." arizvi@thenational.ae
