Jazira land President's Cup in emphatic win over Wahda

ABU DHABI // Al Jazira end their 37-year-wait for domestic silverware after defeating their Abu Dhabi rivals Al Wahda 4-0 to win the President’s Cup at a packed Zayed Sports City.

Bare, the Brazilian striker and man of the match, scored twice and assisted his compatriot Ricardo Oliveira with Ahmed Jumaa completing the rout with an injury time goal in front of a 37,408-strong crowd.

Bare headed home from Matias Delgado cross for an 11th minute lead and sealed the game 10 minutes from time with a solo run down the right flank to shoot past Adel al Hosani, the Wahda goalkeeper.

Oliveira headed a Bare cross from the right flank and Jumaa, a late substitute, timed his run to perfection to head a cross from Khalid Sebil.

Jazira are now on course for the double as they lead the Pro League by 10 points with seven games remaining.

Abel Braga’s side are unbeaten in the league in 14 months and 23 matches, and they can extend that lead when they take on Baniyas, the second placed team, away on Friday.
