Al Wasl's Rashed Saed fights for the ball with Al Khor's Mohamad Al Alawi

Al Wasl reach GCC finals despite second leg defeat

Al Khor 2 Al Wasl 1 (Al Wasl win 4-2 on aggregate)

Al Wasl remain on course to end Diego Maradona's first season in charge with a trophy after they booked their passage in the Gulf Clubs Championship final last night.

Leading 3-0 from the first leg, Wasl's nerves would have started to jangle in Qatar when Al Khor reduced the deficit after just four minutes.

The home side set up a rousing finish with a second five minutes from time but Mariono Donda settled things for the Dubai club with a 90th-minute strike.

Wasl will travel to Bahrain for the first of the two-legged final against Al Muharraq on Monday while the return leg is at the Zabeel stadium six days later.

Maradona's side will travel to Bahrain for the first leg on June 4, before hosting the second leg at Zabeel Stadium six days later.
