Nalbandian and Federer in Basle final

David Nalbandian of Argentina beat his Davis Cup teammate Juan Martin del Potro 6-4, 6-4 yesterday to reach the Swiss Indoors final in Basle. The second-seeded Nalbandian avenged his straight-sets loss to Del Potro at the Madrid Masters last week. Nalbandian dropped his first service game but didn't allow another break-point opportunity until serving for the match

"I was the lucky one, last week it was him," Nalbandian said. "I served almost perfect and I think that is why I won." Nalbandian, the 2002 champion, will play in his fourth Swiss Indoors final today against the top-seed Roger Federer. Federer defeated the Spaniard Feliciano Lopez of Spain 6-3, 6-2 in the other semi-final. The Briton Andy Murray, No 4 in the world, booked a place in the final of the St Petersburg open with a straight sets win over Fernando Verdasco.

He defeated the Spaniard 6-0, 6-3 to set up a place in today's final against Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev. Golubev, who had never reached a semi-final in an ATP tour event before this match, comfortably beat Victor Hanescu of Romania 6-3, 6-0. * Agencies
