It has been a weekend of sport full of surprises and shocks, as Maria Sharapova made a triumphant return to the top tier of tennis, Euro 2012 kicked off with shock results and refereeing errors, and Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley in controversial fashion.

The National's deputy sports editor Kevin Affleck looks back over the highs and lows of recent sporting action - and questions whether the judges decision in Las Vegas brings boxing into disrepute and how fitting it is to see Sharapova at the summit of the women's rankings once more.
