Juma Al Dhaheri scored the winner in a penalty tiebreak against Kuwait as the UAE completed the league phase unbeaten in the second Gulf Cup on Wednesday night.
They will meet Bahrain, the bottom team, while Kuwait will be up against Oman in Thursday night's semi-finals at Abu Dhabi Ice Rink.
The UAE completed the group stage by clinching victory over Kuwait in the tiebreak after a 2-2 deadlock at the end of extra time in last night's final league game.
Al Dhaheri, the UAE captain, made sure of his conversion to secure the tiebreak 1-0 but Kuwait are still the team the UAE are widely expected to meet in tomorrow's final.
Oman had earlier got the better of Bahrain 10-5. They were held 2-2 at the end of the first period and took an 8-5 lead in the next session before a couple of unanswered goals in the final period from Khaled Al Blouchi ad Ahmad Al Qatam completed the rout.
Oman took the lead through Ibrahim Al Galadari in the opening minute but Sami Hejazi cancelled it out less than 30 second later. Dawood Al Asani regained the lead midway through that period and Salman Al Thawadi equalised as the two teams went to the initial break on level terms. Oman showed their superiority in the next two periods to clinch their first win in three games.
