Sports fans paint Philadelphia red and green

For the third consecutive year, the city of Philadelphia hosted an October American football-baseball doubleheader on Sunday.

The baseball and American football stadiums are in the same complex, and the area had a Christmas feel as fans wore their Eagles green and Phillies red to support both teams. The NFL's Eagles did their part first, beating the Atlanta Falcons 31-17 in front of 69,144 fans at Lincoln Financial Field.

Many fans then moved to the Phillies game, which drew 46,099 to Citizens Bank Park. The fans were revved up from the start, waving "Fightin' Phils" rally towels as the Phillies beat the San Francisco Giants 6-1 to level the NL championship series 1-1.

In 2008, the Eagles beat Atlanta and the Phillies beat Tampa Bay in Game 4 of the World Series. Last year, the Eagles beat New York's Giants, but the Phillies lost to the Yankees in the World Series.
