Red Wings still flying high over the Penguins

Ty Conklin recorded 24 saves for his sixth shut-out of the season as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 on Sunday to maintain their fine form. Pavel Datsyuk scored twice and former Penguin Marian Hossa added his 30th goal of the campaign for the Red Wings, who got the better of the Penguins in six games in last year's Stanley Cup finals. Niklas Backstrom turned aside 28 shots in normal time and stopped all four attempts in the shoot-out to help the Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers. Mikko Koivu scored the decisive goal for the Wild.

Brad Richards recorded a goal and an assist as the Dallas Stars posted a 4-1 triumph over the Nashville Predators. Brian Sutherby, Mark Parrish and Steve Ott also were on target. Jeff Carter recorded two goals and an assist as Antero Niittymaki and the Philadelphia Flyers once again got the better of the Atlanta Thrashers with a 3-2 victory. Niittymaki made 29 saves to lead the Flyers to their 13th consecutive success over the Thrashers.
