No Green in Capitals' win

Mike Green of the Washington Capitals saw his goal-scoring record come to an end as his side notched a 4-2 victory over the Florida Panthers. Green had scored a goal in a record-breaking eight consecutive games but was kept off the scoresheet in his team's win. David Clarkson capped a wild contest with his second goal late in the third period to lift the New Jersey Devils to a 6-5 win over the San Jose Sharks.

Ilya Kovalchuk recorded his 11th career hat-trick and added an assist as the Atlanta Thrashers scored four times in the second period and cruised to an 8-4 triumph over the Anaheim Ducks. Jordan Leopold scored the winner in the fifth round of a shoot-out as the Colorado Avalanche edged the Detroit Red Wings 6-5. The Philadelphia Flyers beat the New York Rangers 5-2. The Carolina Hurricanes recorded a 3-0 triumph over the Buffalo Sabres. The Vancouver Canucks saw off the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 in the night's all-Canadian affair.
