NHL: Carter at the double for Kings as Los Angeles beat St Louis


Jeff Carter scored twice as the Los Angeles Kings beat the St Louis Blues 4-1 for a much-needed victory.

It was Carter's first double of the season, while Davis Drewiske and Jarrett Stoll also scored.

Alex Steen got the Blues on the board at the end of the second period.

Shane Doan scored twice, including an overtime winner, as the Phoenix Coyotes beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson also scored for the Coyotes, a leveller in the third which took the game into OT.

Jiri Tlusty scored twice as the Carolina Hurricanes saw off the New York Islanders 6-4.

The Minnesota Wild beat the Calgary Flames 2-1 after a shoot-out, the Columbus Blue Jackets overwhelmed the San Jose Sharks 6-2 and the Toronto Maple Leafs were 5-2 winners over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Meanwhile the Tampa Bay Lightning against Boston Bruins match postponed at the weekend because of blizzards has been rescheduled for April - becoming the penultimate game of the season for both clubs.
