LaDainian Tomlinson signed a two-year contract with the New York Jets on Sunday in a deal worth US$5million (Dh18.4m). The 30-year-old running back, who was released after nine seasons with the San Diego Chargers, had visited several teams, including the Minnesota Vikings, before choosing the Jets. His arrival will boost a Jets team who were the top-ranked rushing team in the league. Tomlinson will join Shonn Greene, the second-year running back, in their back field. Tomlinson rushed for 12,490 yards and 153 touchdowns, won two rushing titles and was named the NFL MVP in 2006 while with the Chargers. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos have acquired the quarterback Brady Quinn from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the full-back, Peyton Hillis and the sixth-round pick in the 2011 draft.
Denver also said they had agreed to give the Browns a conditional 2012 draft pick for Quinn, a 25-year-old former first-round draft choice by the Browns. * Reuters
