Alex Rodriguez marked his return to the New York Yankees line up by hitting a three-run homer with his first swing of the season while CC Sabathia pitched a four-hit shut-out in a 4-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. The Yankees never trailed in the game as Rodriguez, making his first start for 28 games after recovering from a hip injury, smashed a fastball to left-centre field. Sabathia then took over, tossing a four hitter to end the Yankees five-game run without a win.
"I'm just coming in having a good time and enjoying myself," said Rodriguez after the game. "I'm fresh as well but it was just good to get back out and play baseball. "I felt pretty good, I had good energy out there. I was nervous before the game but got better as it went on." Elsewhere, Jason Bay hit his ninth home run of the season while JD Drew also homered as the Boston Red Sox rallied to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3. A five-run surge in the bottom of the sixth helped the Red Sox battle back from a 3-0 deficit.
