Is the men's tennis schedule too intense?

Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick have both pulled out of the Masters Cup in Shanghai due to injuries, blaming their busy schedule. Nadal, the world number one, will also miss the Davis Cup final for Spain against Argentina later in the month, while Roddick says that the 11-month season is too long. While the Woman's Tennis Association (WTA) has agreed that there should be more rest time between events, the men will continue with its event plan next year. Should the men have a longer rest time and fewer events on the tour to avoid burn-outs? Or should the ATP tour be cut to 10 months? Have your say.
