Venky's of India complete Blackburn Rovers takeover

BLACKBURN // The poultry giant Venky's has become the first Indian company to own an English Premier League club after completing its takeover of Blackburn.

The company has set up a British subsidiary to pay £23 million (Dh135m) for a 99.9 per cent stake in the north-west England side, which won the Premier League in 1995 and is currently 14th in the league table.

Blackburn had originally said the takeover would be completed some time in November.
